PAP have brought out a new lightweight paramotor which they hope will encourage more women into the sport.
The RM80-1200 paramotor weighs in at around 20 kg depending on the options chosen, and is ideal for pilots of 50 – 65 kg. It will take a maximum pilot weight of 80 kg.
In order to make it so light its 1200 mm frame is made from aluminium and titanium, and PAP acknowledge that these materials can never match the robustness of steel. It has been reinforced with titanium where necessary, and PAP are happy with its strength.
Ramon Morillas recently put one through its paces, carrying out SATs and extreme wingovers on it with it suffering no resutant deformation.
PAP have also made the RM80-1200 quick and easy to assemble and disassemble.
The ring separates into two parts and a semi-circular cover is provided to store it and the detachable elements in.
The engine can be easily started whilst on the pilot’s back. A primer bulb, located in the air box for easy access, delivers a measured amount of fuel to the carburettor aiding cold-starts. The starter handle itself is at the top of the unit where it can be easily reached, and the engine can be restarted mid-flight, necessary for pilots who like to mix paramotoring with engine-off thermalling.
The harness is available in S or M size and has been kept simple to keep the weight down. The harness has no pockets, for example, though there is an integrated reserve housing and a pulley for the throttle.
The buyer can choose between a 5-litre or 9-litre fuel tank, and a 108 cm double-wood or 110 cm triple carbon prop.
