Cross Country Powered Paragliding Paramotor 150km (93 miles) flight in South Korea
Wow, what a trip, started off at 0530 and landed at 1030, but didnt get back home until 1730... Amazing epic journey... Along the way I ran into a fellow paramotor pilot, totally random, We signaled a landing and met each other on the ground, even thouth it was very hard to communicated with one another our friendship was universal, he noticed I was very cold and gave me his jacket. I went on my way and continued to fly south... I arrived at a city just before some large mountain ranges and decided to land to find fuel... I realized that my aux tank had been leaking fuel out of the gas caps so I found some super glue and glued them down... That problem fixed and with a small crowd of people (who brought me lunch) I took off again and continued my trip... however only about 20km south before the very high mountain ranges I found myself unable to climb, I decided to try and fly the river at the base of these mountains, (bad idea) the river was in between a rather large ravine in which I quickly found funneled some crazy wind, I was being thrown around pretty severe, but continued on... Then I suffered a very large updraft which left me weightless with a huge wing collapse... after some weight shift and some pull on the un-collapsed side of the wing I recovered in a shallow spiral which I recovered from nicely. After this, I decided enough was enough and landed next to the river in the ravine... the wind was very strong and gusting from several directions... my landing was rough and touched down with a tip of my prop on the ground!!! No problem as I wasnt planning on flying in the conditions any longer. I put my things together after a short rest and made my way about three miles to a small village in which I found a small bus station and took the bus back to my home.... Learned alot about my glider, my equipment, but most importantly gained a ton of experience on where I can and where I can't fly, where it is safe, and where it isn't safe to fly... Next XC flight I am buying a pee tube, being cold and at altitude really sucks bad!!!
